Henna Classes Edmonton
Discover the art of mehndi with hands-on workshops taught by an experienced henna artist
Have you ever watched a henna artist at work and thought you would love to try it yourself? At Henna By Bowmi, we offer henna classes and workshops in Edmonton that teach you the fundamentals of mehndi art in a fun, supportive, and hands-on environment. Whether you are a complete beginner or someone looking to refine existing skills, our classes are designed to help you create beautiful henna designs with confidence.
What a Henna Workshop Looks Like
Each workshop begins with an introduction to the art of henna, covering the history and cultural significance of mehndi, the ingredients that make up organic henna paste, and the tools you will use. From there, you move into hands-on practice, starting with basic elements like dots, lines, petals, and leaves before combining them into complete designs.
The atmosphere is relaxed and encouraging. You practise first on paper templates to build muscle memory and confidence, then move on to applying henna on skin. Bowmi guides you through each step, offering personalized tips and corrections along the way. By the end of the session, you will have created your own henna design from scratch and have the skills to continue practising at home.
Why Learn Henna Art
Learning henna is more than picking up a creative hobby. It connects you to an art form that has been practised for thousands of years across South Asian, Middle Eastern, and North African cultures. It is a skill you can share with friends and family, use to adorn yourself and loved ones for celebrations, and even develop into a professional practice if you choose to pursue it further.
Henna art is also incredibly therapeutic. The focused, repetitive motions of drawing patterns are meditative and calming. Many students describe the experience as a form of mindfulness, a break from screens and schedules that allows them to be fully present and creative. In Edmonton, where long winters call for cozy indoor activities, learning henna is the perfect way to spend a creative afternoon.

Henna Class FAQs
No prior experience is needed. Our beginner classes are designed for complete newcomers and start with the very basics: how to hold the cone, control paste flow, and create fundamental shapes. We guide you step by step through increasingly detailed patterns at a comfortable pace.
All supplies are included. Each participant receives practice henna cones, practice sheets, design templates, and a take-home henna cone to continue practising at home. You do not need to bring anything except your enthusiasm and creativity.
Absolutely! Private group workshops are one of our most popular options. They are perfect for bridal showers, birthday parties, girls' nights, mother-daughter activities, and team building events. We customize the session to your group's skill level and interests.
Our standard beginner workshop runs 2-3 hours, which gives ample time for instruction, guided practice, and creating a finished design. Private group sessions can be tailored to your preferred duration, from a quick 1.5-hour intro to an in-depth 4-hour masterclass.
After a beginner class, you will be able to create basic henna designs including flowers, leaves, paisleys, vines, and simple mandalas. You will understand henna paste preparation, application techniques, and aftercare. Many students practise at home and return for intermediate classes to expand their skills.
